Piedmont region

PIEMONTE is located in the extreme northwest of Italy. To the west of it lies France, to the north we find Switzerland and to the east the region borders the plains of Lombardy and the city of Milan.

The area is extremely varied topographically, but the most characteristic are the Alps, which border the region to the north and west and whose snowy peaks can be seen on a clear day from almost anywhere in Piedmont.

 

To the south, a series of hills and mountains separate Piedmont from the Ligurian Mediterranean coast. The river Po flows right through Piemonte. It rises in the west in the Alps and then settles, fed by numerous tributaries, before emptying into the Adriatic Sea south of Venice.
